February "Priest Of The Month":

Fr. Ron Meyer

Fr. Ron Meyer Dear Friends;

Fr. Ron Meyer is our WWME Priest of the Month for February, 2010. Father Ron is a presenting priest for Peterborough County, but has also assisted in presenting Weekends in Toronto and Ottawa. A short bio follows:

He was ordained On December 17, 1988 at his home parish of Canadian Martyrs in Hamilton. His first parish assignment was in Lindsay having arrived there in early January to begin his ministry. While there, he was asked about going on a WWME weekend by Jim & Michelle Griepsma. Fr. Ron had heard about ME and had some interest in going on a weekend. Following the weekend he attended the bridging with the Griepsmas in Oshawa. The three of them began to trialogue. That gave him more familiarity with the dialogue technique.

In June of 1993, after four and a half years in Lindsay, he was transferred to St. Anne’s in Peterborough. There he was approached about going on a Deeper Weekend with the possibility of being part of a presenting team. His stay at St. Anne’s was just a matter of a few months and then he was transferred to Parry Sound and did a Deeper Weekend while at that parish. It was less than a year later when he was transferred to Cardiff in June 1994. During his time in Cardiff he wrote his talks with the help of Frank & Loretta Wendorf from Pembroke.

During the six years he was in Cardiff, Fr. Ron also served as the District IV trio priest with John & Marilyn Dietrich and made a few trips to Montreal for the Canadian Board meetings. After Cardiff he went on sabbatical to Steubenville, Ohio which was a blessing for him. After that, he was an applicant with the Companions of the Cross, but it wasn't a good fit. In April 2002 he returned to the Peterborough diocese, was assigned to Trout Creek and was there for three years before being reassigned to Gravenhurst where he was until August of 2008.

Since then, Fr. Ron was then sent to Powassan, ON where he is currently stationed. Bruce & Lydia Watts have helped him with his revised talks and trialogued with him when they have come to visit in some of the parishes where he have served.

Fr. Ron says, "I am pleased to be involved with WWME. I have been involved as part of the Weekend presenting team for about 14 years now and hope to continue to be part of the ME movement/family. Being part of the presenting team has been a rewarding experience for me. I have been enriched because of my involvement with WWME, not only in givng the weekends but in listening to the talks and meeting up with the people that are on the weekends."

Please keep Father Ron in our prayers.

With Love,
Dane & Anne MacCarthy
